About Sunscreen Filters

Sunscreen Filters lists every sunscreen on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods with each of its UV filters and how much of each it contains, taken from the TGA’s own public summaries. It shows how each product compares with the limits the TGA has proposed for homosalate, oxybenzone and 4-MBC, and it follows that review until the decisions are made and products change.

When homosalate made the news in September 2026, parents could find lists of “clean” brands and ingredient checkers, but nowhere that said how much of a filter was in the sunscreen on their shelf. The register has had the answer all along, one PDF at a time. We read all of them and put them in one table.

We are independent. We aren’t the TGA, Cancer Council, a pharmacy or a sunscreen maker, and none of them approves or pays for what we write. We aren’t doctors either: we report what the register says, and nothing here is medical advice. Keep using sunscreen.

How we work

Every figure on this site comes from a source we link to: the maker, the regulator, the government or published research or reviews. We check pages regularly, and each page shows the date it was last updated. If you spot something wrong or out of date, email hello@sunscreenfilters.com and we'll fix it.

We don't accept payment to change what we say about a product, and we never claim to have tested something we haven't.
